Oh sweet. Congrats on the sticky...haha.

Now get the TBRS/SS out here and let me check it out!

If you have the time, maybe you should hit up some shops that might do a conversion.

I know of one not far from me that could handle it, so the L.A. guys could have a place to get it done. And, they're across the street from West Coast Cylinder Heads.

LOL...ohhh that's what happened. I was sitting here clicking the hell out of the mouse wondering, "WTF is wrong with my poll????!!" WOW...just realized that reads better than it sounds.

That's the beauty of the conversion...any trans shop can do it...it's plug and play bolt in.

That is NOT what you have on the website though...

Under "Verdict" for the 4L80 you list:

I'm just trying to learn, not disputing. I didn't read the LS1 discussion, where maybe you said different. I guess it's good that I caught this, if it is not correct

I was thinking to myself... "If the 4L80 is best for 600+hp... then I need one of those, but with 6 forward gears like TCI has in their 6X (without buying theirs)...lol

Shawn, if you have high horsepower and want 6 forward speeds, talk to Circle-D, I think they are doing a lot with the 6L series transmissions as far as upgrades go.

Still, for drag racing, more gears are not always the best option.

That's what I meant. Compared to a TCI 6X, I believe you'd be better served to get a 6L90E. If you just have raw, ridiculous power and are looking to do primarily drag racing...hands down 4L80E. Three gears is pretty much all you need to get down a 1/4 mile as fast as possible...so the extra O/D gear is still a bonus.

GM Puts the 6L90 behind :
-Full size van Duramax (525 lb/ft @ 1600 RPM) 10,000 towing capacity in a 5,000lb truck

-CTS-V LSA (551 HP @ 6100 RPM)

So long as your SS is making more power between those parameters and not making peak HP over or near 6500, I think you should be good.

You'd be looking at about:
$1025 for the interface module
$2300 (approx list price) for new AWD 6L90
$700 (approx) for misc gaskets, oil tube/dipstick, cooler lines, fluids, etc
$1325 for Transmission to Transfer Case Adapter & 32 spline Input Shaft
$1200 (R&R labor w/12hr @ $100/hr)
New Tune (to optimize performance)
$6,550 (approx) + tax and shipping
$5,350 (approx) + tax and shipping w/o labor

This looks like an awesome swap. Between this, the built 4L70's, and the 4L80E conversion, there's something for everyone.

So what time did your 5.3 Trailblazer run before and after this swap?
Would the PCM and TCM you send require a new license versus your stock PCM?
Do both EFI Live and HPTuners work with this combo?

Thanks.

Tim

You will have to get a new license to tune the ECM and TCM, but EFILive and HPTuners will work. I will probably offer a discount if you have your own TCM.

HPTuners is more of a PITA to make work (initially) though as you cant flash whatever OS you want into the ECM/TCM without paying for more credits. Once you lock a ECM/TCM to an EFILive cable, put whatever the heck you want in it (it will even tell you if the OS you're about to full flash is going to brick your ECM and give you the option to not!).

Wish I had 5k, but alas and money I have is going towards gas and/or tuition for the fall. Might be able to get some efans and hopefully black 22s,this summer if Im lucky.
