Wasn't there a thread about a trick of putting a piece of sheet metal that was formed into a tube to shove into the resonator to get the same effect? I wanna try this to see if I like the sound...

from what I've read, most whop have done the RES delete, like it - but later on want something louder... (and get tired of the drone)
Most people who do the muffler delete (and keep the Resonator) love it... and it is plenty (almost too) loud, but no drone...

I did the resonator delete. If you want to meet up sometime next week so you can hear it. I like it A lot but I'm getting ready to order up the aero turbine muffler. I need it to be louder. Lol

Res delete. seriously if you are worried about drone you are too much into luxury riding.

Thats like putting deer whistles on a bicycle. WTF is the point? You will just get rasping in the resonator. Just cut the thing off. Weld in a new piece of pipe, weld the tip back on. Looks stock. looks sexy. Paint the pipe flat black and while you got that out paint the rails underneath as well to clean up the look below. Maybe hit the wheel wells and arms too if you are showing any rust as well.

I personally prefer the sound of no muffler or a smaller muffler with the stock reso..

Holy shit dude you got off topic. Guys have actually done this to test and see if they like the sound. FYI - it works. As I said, I'd be looking into doing this to see if I liked the sound. If I did, I'd cut the resonator out. If I didn't, I'd pull the sheet back out and be back to stock with out the pain of cutting and welding, just to cut and weld again.

Disengaging. There is no point in trying to stuff a piece of rolled up metal inside of an insulated tube. It will not sound the same as no resonator. There are dozens of videos out there to get an idea. If you are stressing about it, cutting off the res and starting it to hear it leads to only 1 cut and weld if you don't like it. If you slide in a rolled up piece of metal you will have a rasp sound, as well as it will still be different due to the pack that is all around it deadening the sound. I worked with Random Tech to develop an exhaust for me. I have toyed with many of these exact ideas. I have even toyed with cyclonic flow through mufflers. No matter what someone tells you, the only way to see if you will like something is to just do it and try it. Not try and simulate it.

Good. Glad you cut and tried and loved! I deleted Res and its nice but because of my neighborhood I don't want to piss off my new neighbors just yet. I already have the itch for a higher flow and lighter weight muffler to replace my stock one. More for the weight and flow than the sound.

I cut the res off, wasnt a lot of sound. then replaced the muffler as well and added a nice tip. looks and sounds amazing. loud outside the car, quite inside. couldnt be happier with it (magnaflow 11229 and 4"rolled tip with res delete).
