Default Air Filter for stock location CAI ?

I'm building a 4" CAI to the stock air box. I've got it figured out from the TB to the MAF. I need to figure out the air filter to decide on the MAF to air filter connection. Looking at the pictures of universal air filters it looks like the air filter flange goes on the outside of the pipe/hose. Is this true? Does the flange have some leeway to compress onto a slightly smaller connector? One filter that fits is the K&N RU-2590 which has a 4" inside diameter. If I use silicone couplers, the 4" has a 4.375" OD so I would need to go down to 3.5" which has a 3.875" OD. AFE has a couple of air filters with 4.5" ID flanges, but I don't know if they fit in the stock airbox as they have a larger diameter than the K&N. Anyone know about AFE 21-45505, AFE 21-45507, AFE 21-45003 or other filters?

Thanks.
