does the 4L80 need to be out of a 2wd truck, or will a 99'+ 4wd 4L80 work? thanks

You will need a 2WD tailshaft and output shaft. So probably easier to just find the right one from the beginning instead of swapping parts on the 4wd version.

The 4x4 trans also lacks the speed sensor ring on the planetary, though that can be added as well if need be
