Your running the amp into protection due to ohms, could be bridging the speakers and the amp not being able to go that low
Amp model / speakers ohm dual or single voice coil

Wire it for 2 ohm and see what happens. I'd bet the amp doesn't stay stable at 1 ohm.

APSM-1300
Channels 1 Channel

Power (P.M.P.O) 1000 Watts

Power (R.M.S) 300W @ 4 Ohm
600W @ 2 Ohm
1000W @ 1 Ohm

Says its 1-ohm stable. Do like Truckshop said and wire it @ 2ohms. May be the amp itself. What size power/ground are you running? Are they the same size? I've seen people put a larger power than ground, or vice-versa and create issues. Good luck.

Check the ohmage with a good quality digital meter. Test it both at the speaker, and then at the wires (with them disconected at the amp. You will get a tad higher reading through the wire usualy, even with good wires. My guess is your under the 1ohm. Either that or you have the gains too high and are clipping, or the amp is getting too hot. Does it do it right away, or after jamming for a while?

Check your grounds, make sure your gains are set. I hope you have quality 4 gauge feeding that amp.

Well, the suggestion to wire it for 2 ohms will not work since it is a Dual 2 ohm driver. He could wire it for 4 ohms and test the amp that way. It could also be an internal issue with the amp. Check this thread out on DIYMA.com: http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/...sign-flaw.html
