Well I talked to Tony and he said to just cut the bad threads and use red loctite on the nut. I was able to salvage the press fit bolts. I can't believe you have to but a new control arm just because of a bolt.

I damaged one thread on driver's side of mine. Used some jeweler's files and a hacksaw blade and cleaned them up enough to put the bolt on without crossthreading it.

You could also check see if someone local has a die to recut the threads.

i have some thread files from mitchell that will fix almost any type of screwed up thread. they were expensive but have saved me many times. It may not have helped here but they are good for things like this.
Another trick I use on things like this is to leave the nut on the last few threads so they can't compress/distort. Sort of like when you whack a ball joint or tie rod end and ruin it when it wont come free.
