trans question
alright today we went on a couple hundred mile family trip, all was well when we left, on the way back the temp out side was 78 according to the dash temp. now my transmission shifts really firm, if i get on to the throttle when it shifts from first to second it brakes the tires loose. it just started this and its 200 miles out of the extended warrenty. dont have a lot to spend any suggestions??? the last week it seemed like the trans was slipping but only in the 100+ degree las vegas weather i am hoping i dont have to have the trans rebuilt its the family car. I have read that a dirty MAF sensor might do this I have MAF cleaner in the garage I will try it tomorrow any thoughts?????

Definitely try the maf cleaner first! Generally I've seen several threads on this and the culprit has generally always come back as a dirty maf.

Damn, I spent money to get a firmer shift and I could have let the MAF get dirty for free and got the same results,

Mine also seems to slowly slide into 2nd when it's cold but as it get up to temp it's more firm. And of course under wot it's always firm. I have a ls7 MAF but it seemed to be the same with stock. I recommend cleaner the MAF first too as stated above. It's cheap and may do the trick

alright so i cleaned the MAF and it works as advertised now, but lsat night it had a neck snapping shift if it didnt break the tires loose. ny next question how and why would a dirty MAF cause such a problem??? I now want to add a trans temp gauge, i was going to throw it in the SS hole to the right of the steering wheel. any suggestions as to what size and brand of gauge to use??
