Its always a good thing to check it up on the street afterwords but those who think a good dyno tune using professional tools like our loading dynojet and being clean and scientific is different from a good street tune don't know what the hell they are talking about. As with any intake, don't think you are going to get any "boost" or ram air from it. Just an abundance of fresh clean air.

I appreciate it, I can definitely get you a flash that gets you 95% of the way there but for a intake like this that has some open endness (like you using HOB piping) it would be very beneficial to either come see me or datalog using hptuners.

Tune is imperitive on an intake like this. My intake required quite a few changes and I am still using the stock MAF. With a slot MAF and 4" intake it may not even run without a "guess" tune to get it going so you can scan it.

No, on this one I left the IAT inside the MAF. I think people go a little crazy with the relocations sometimes. Its important that it gets a really good idea of intake air or you'll be chasing your tail in the timing tables. Its a good idea to have them when the MAF is big/bulky and is storing too much heat and not allowing it react quickly.

No you wouldn't have. This thing is only dangerous if you try to make a river or creek crossing. The airfilter placement is still higher than a stock vette or lt1 fbody

Yeah.....Because Powdercoating a piece of raw metal takes up soo much material to do.....Especially when its new and needs nearly no prep.

You do your own coating right?

Tony, the two intakes ive made in this style still fit under the engine cover. You MUST use a short radius 90* off of the throttle body though.

Stay tuned guys. The bad thing about running a short elbow is the restriction. Your better off not running a engine cover or trimming it to fit. I think this is one of the biggest reasons why these help out so much over traditional style intakes

Hey Guys,

I uploaded these intakes to our website. This should save you guys some money.. Why? Because to build these you have to buy from at least 3 different places and you can run up shipping cost quick. I put it together as a "DIY" package that should be cheaper than you can buy it on your own.

If your interested in duplicating this yourself and do not want to get the parts from me, I totally understand. Here's what I used in my kit

1 K&N filter K&N RE-0870
1 Piece of 7" pipe from intakehoses.com
1 4 inch MAF sensor (LS7 style, with connector. It will not plug into the factory harness without the connector)
2 45 degree silicone 4 inch from siliconeintakes.com
1 90 degree silicone 4 inch from siliconeintakes.com Replace with 4 inch x 3.75 if reusing stock MAF
1 45 degree Aluminum elbow from intakehoses.com
6 4 inch hose clamps.

I'm selling it all as a complete package including MAF sensor for $360. The MAF's only for $172.13. $360 might sound expensive but we are including a new 4 inch MAF sensor. I've sold the stock 85mm MAF on ebay before between $85-$125. Our stock MAF sensor is a really popular upgrade for 98-00 vettes, 98-02 camaros, and 2000 and earlier trucks.

http://www.pcmforless.com/index.php?...d=72&Itemid=86

Some caveats
*IF you make your own 4 inch sensor housing know that a mail order tuner will likely not be able to get the tune correct at least first try. The tune and sensor housing/position is EXTREMELY critical. This is one of the reasons why our price might be higher than you expect. Our housings are made to be within .0015 of a inch AFTER the welding.
*cannot use factory washer tank. We have a simple aftermarket washer tank that mounts both pumps out of the way where you cannot see them.
*requires radically different tuning. Will not even run on tunes not meant for this. If you buy the intake/MAF from us we will give you a start MAF calibration table
*requires removal or at least trimming of factory engine cover
*requires 4.25" hole drilled underneath where the factory washer tank sits.
*Can be made cheaper using rubber elbows but I preferred the nicer/cleaner look of silicone. I have not tried making it out of rubber, so if you do it let us know how it turns out.
*may including powdercoating later, but are not setup to give quotes at this time.

Nice....something I definitely need to look into. I might be planning a trip back up to you guys when I am finished up with installing the headers!

Just one quick question...Did you have to install a rubber garment of some type for the 4.25" hole?
