Attention All Who have Fender Well Intakes!!
This is mainly to get the opinion of any who have done the mod but all info is appreciated. I'm about to make mine and I'm concerned about the water getting into it. I live in FL and the rains sucks, I drove through a storm tonight that made me wonder what would happen with this intake. Does anyone have this on a daily driver and has been through storms regualarly? Would it work to leave the filter in the stock location and run a pipe down through the fender to get a ram air affect? I just dont' have the money to get a new engine if something goes wrong. Thanks.

I live in IL, and DD my truck. Have taken it through numerous snow storms, slush, and sleet. You will be fine, just be cautious of deep standing water.

I have had a true CAI on pretty much every car I have owned. Even some that were so low you could barely fit a toe under them. I have driven through some SHIT with these cars, and have never had an issue at all. You will be fine, you just have to use your head when driving. Keep the driver side away from standing water, avoid large puddles, etc.....

Thanks guys, puts my mind at ease. Would it be better to have a ram air effect or no?

Keith, I am going to evertually do this and have no worries. If you are worried get a piece of plexi and make a box behind the brake grill. that will stop water from being able to get in there and give more ram air effect, if you seal it decently. But unless you bury the nose in a lake you wont have to worry about it even with hitting puddles and splashing water around.

I've had CAIs on two previous cars and they did get wet and covered in snow. They ran fine as long as they didn't get submerged. but who knows what was getting in. My second car I had a k&n intake and it could be converted to short ram in winter. So that made me more comfortable.

I just put one of the water resistant filter socks on mine and haven't have a single issue! But I don't even think you'll really need the sock honestly, I did it as an added precaution!
