How To remove dash bezel and cluster
Ok so I replaced the bezel/lense on my gauge cluster with one from an Envoy. http://www.ebay.com/itm/USED-OEM-GMC...#ht_500wt_1314
A few people mentioned a How-to and also being unsure how to remove the dash.
Tools Needed
7mm socket or nut driver
Small flat blade screw driver
Philips screw driver- A short one and a regular one probably
A cutting tool of some sort-cutoff wheel works great
Start by removing two 7mm hex head screws that the bottom of the knee bolster. There is once at each end. The black cover that conceals the under dash wiring etc needs to be removed. Once these two are out you can just pull down gently and let it hang.
Next you can remove the two 7mm hex head screws at the bottom of the knee bolster. One at each end.
Next use the small flat screw driver to pop off the covers to the screws on the upper area of the knee panel
Remove the 7mm hex screws. There is one on each side of the steering wheel.
After those are out you can pop the panel off and you can see the screws hold the dash trim. There are three philips screws. Two on the left side of the wheel and one of the right.
Remove the two philips screws at the top above the cluster. This is where the short screw driver comes in handy.
Dont forget the last philips screw in here next to the power ports.
At this point the bezel pops off easily. I tend to start at one corner like by the radio. Youll have to unplug the harnesses for the headlight switch, rear wiper switch a power ports if you want to completely remove the bezel and give yourself room to work.
The cluster is held to the vehicle with four more 7mm hex screws, one in each corner. These also secure the lense/trim to the cluster itself.
Then with your fingers you can pop off the four clips securing the lense to the cluster. There are two on top and two on the bottom and they pop off easily.
There are small plastic alignment pins on the back of the trim. They correspond with the correct brand clusters. This is where you need a cutting tool. The middle and right side pins were in slightly different places on the Envoy version I was installing. I cut them off with a small pair of cutters and grinded them smooth with a rotozip.
Only pic I have with the dash apart is this. I took this to show where the navigation gps antenna mounts. You can kinda see what you're working with once the dash bezel is off.

Installing the new trim/lense is reverse. Without the alignment pins you will have to get the trim centered where you want it and then tighten the screws.
Please let me know if I missed anything or if this is a useless post haha.

Tapatalk wasn't letting me see the pics for some reason.
I mentioned the screw by the power plugs because I didn't see it and I missed it the first time I took my dash apart. I almost cost myself a new surround before I realized it.

I've wanted to do this for years, just never was sure if the Envoy or Rainier bezel fit.
Thank you.
PS- where did you get the bezel?

The only thing you missed was to get out the car wax, and wax the clear plastic cover over the gauges. It will not only remove the scratches, but it makes it shine like brand new. It will also make it easier to clean in the future as the wax acts like a protective barrier. I do this every time I pull a cluster or dash cover. The other plus is it gets cleaned all the way to the edge so that when you put the trim over, there are no smears from cleaners at the edge.
Oh, and BTW ----

Yeah I have done this a couple of times now but the Bezel is aggravating to get off over the Ignition and wheel but it works.

If you unplug everything and put the wheel all the way down, twist the whole bezel clockwise and move it right. It comes right out.
