I would think that if it was 3k miles before it started that either the Convertor bolts have backed off or you lost weights off the drive shaft. Would definitely check the convertor. And please let us know when you get it fixed.

Yes it was fine till right at 3k miles and everybody has told me the same things to check so I'm sure it'll be something they've mentioned. Should have it back soon and I'll let yall know what the deal was on it.

Oh tell me bout it lol I mean the few places I went all told me something different. The place that installed the transmission said they couldn't really tell anything then the place I went to that does driveline stuff told me the shaft looked fine to them and wasn't enough difference in length to be causing any kinda vibration then another guy I asked said he could tell what I was talking about but didn't really know what was causing it.
This stuff is new to me (stalls, shift kits, etc..) so I'm still learning. I know there was a vibration and noise that started around 3k miles that wasn't there before but you go to a few shops and they act like your crazy hell I am crazy I guess but I do know when something acts strange on one of my vehicles. I've always messed around with the 4 wheel drive stuff so the vibration and roar that it was making at times sorta made me think a u joint but I replaced them and that wasn't the problem but at least I know there good.
So thats what you deal with around this lil town... me not knowing much and shops that I guess don't really wanna fool with it or know how to fool with it.. one of the two. I got the SS at Culver's now and I feel like he will get things right with it since this is the stuff he works on everyday.

I only skimmed so bare with me if I missed this info... how long is your new yoke on the driveshaft? There are several 400 yokes and I've long suspected that the shorter ones cause some vibration issues.

Ended up spinning a rod bearing back in January and truck was down for a few months. Now has a lil more motor, 402 stroker, trick flow heads, cam, headers, underdrive pulley, fast intake, bigger injectors, etc. the shop that built the motor said the converter seemed fine and when I got it back it was hard to tell anything right off because of all the added noise/vibration with the new motor. 231 miles later and the converter failed and I hadn't even been hard on it yet so I'm guessing whatever was going on with it before the motor issue may have been what finally broke on it. It was a piece inside the converter where the splines are that broke. Greg took really good care of me on this situation. Couldn't have asked for a better person to deal with. When the guy I had pull the trans and put back in, got the new converter and trans back in the truck was all great again, no noise and no vibration. I was still a lil scarred to be hard on this thing because I really can't afford to keep dumping money into it and fixing things. After a week or so I started tryin it out a lil more and man this new motor with the 4L80 and stall made this thing like a whole different vehicle but I've never had anything like this before and most is still new to me. I have started noticing a noise the past couple of weeks though it's mostly when it's warmed up at normal operating temp and when ur under light throttle or letting off the gas. It kinda like a constant tap and it's not in the engine and the noise is not like the noise with the first converter so idk what's goin in now and I've been really busy lately and haven't had time to look into it do it's not getting drove much till I can look into it. Everything still shifting fine and ye converter seems to me like it's still working fine but I'm no mechanic and I'm still tryin to learn more about this stuff. I don't regret going with the 80 one bit but sometimes it takes a while till you get everything all dialed in and the way you want especially when you hadn't ever fooled with this kinda thing before.

I got my yoke from Greg and I'm not sure on the length but he would be glad to help you out on that. What your saying is true but on mine it had no vibration at first. It was a month or so after having the transmission installed was when the vibration started also after I Greg made up my new stall recently and I got it and the trans back in the SS I had no vibration so I think the yoke he has is fine and should work for you if your interested in one for yours
