Will a 4l80e from a 1997 1 ton work with my 07 AWD ? Found one and is $600 a good price?

I think it has to be an 01 newer for the electronics to work. Not a 100% on the year.

Not sure why! Greg and others have said the electronics would all need to be changed and the bell housing is missing the top bolt. If you really wanted too, you could use one! Just buy the right one if you can.

I understand people are tryin to get a good deal on the older trans but its better to just go 99+ an run with it. But as its said on here its ur truck u do what u want. I would go with a 99+ tho lik I did.

I'm not starting another thread so I will post here.

I've been looking Ito getting a 4l80 and have found 2000/01/02 with no problem at good prices. My problem is they all don't have the top bolt hole. Does this matter? I have turned down a couple because of this and am not sure if it even matters whether it has the mounting hole up top or not. Any help would be appreciated!
