LS7 MAF Problems
I have a 4" fwi with the LS7 MAF card. I have 1 tuner that can't get the idle and part throttle drivability right. I have flat spots in my full throttle. And another tuner (very reputable) said he WON'T tune anymore tbss's with the ls7 maf. He has done 2 and won't do anymore. Any help?

There is nothing wrong with an ls7 maf in these, so I would find a tuner who knows what the hell there're doing.

Post your tune and a log of driving it through at least 4000rpm, and with some idle areas. There are several of us that can give you a hand. Its not hard, I have a thread that will give you some startup values if you wanna start over. Just copy and paste the values in there to start with, and get us a log with fuel trims on the VE, and on the MAF. It wont take long at all to dial it in.

As long as the sensor is facing the right way it isn't very hard to tune.

They both said my fuel trims are inconsistent. That the intake is creating turbulence and uneven flow across the sensor.

I call B.S. - Unless there is an obstruction within a couple inches of the MAF sensor, they are full of crap. The only other thing is if its too close to the TB. Even then, they are still tunable. You need to either get HPT for yourself, and let us help you through it, or take it to another tuner that actually knows what he is doing. Maybe someone on the forum here will know someone that lives near you that has HPT that can do a log, or fix it for ya. Dont get too stressed out, its an easy fix. Tell your current tuner to

If your seeing a hesitation, look at the MAF table in 2D mode, and blow it up to full screen. Look for any ups and downs, there shouldnt be any. It should be a curved line going upward. Also make sure the value in the highest column of the low table matches the lowest column in the high table. Some tuners get to making changes, and forget to match the same frequency and it freaks the computer out as its getting mixed signals when switching from the low to the high table. But seriously, look at your stock MAF table in 2D mode full screen, then look at what you have now. they should plot the same upward trend without up and down deviations. It needs to be smooth, or he didnt hit some cells enough. A good tuner should be able to see the trends after a few runs, and hand smooth it. Then do one more run to double check and make final adjustments, & it should be good.

Did you correctly re-pin it?

Have you tried another LS7 MAF to see if the current one may be the issue?

facing the right way as in, direction (air flow) or orientation? Is there a specific orientation that it is supposed to be installed at?

Yes. It is a directional sensor. Make sure the arrow on the MAF is facing the throttle body.

Yeah I double and triple checked the pins. And yes traded with a vette and worked fine.

I had some issues with mine as well. Running lean and I re- angled the intake tune to be as level as possible. Cleared the code and will see if it comes back. The tuner I have said that the tune may need to be tweaked if the code comes back but said the angle is very important to what the MAF is reading
